What happened to Sora
OpenAI announced the discontinuation on March 24, 2026. The Sora app and the web interface closed on April 26, 2026. The API model ids (sora-2, sora-2-pro and their dated snapshots) are removed on September 24, 2026. The deprecations page lists no successor. Those dated facts, from OpenAI's own pages, are the whole verified story. Press coverage adds numbers that contradict each other, so this page repeats none of them.

A Sora prompt was never Sora's property. It is a brief: a scene, a camera, a mood. The models that render that brief today are live in the OpenClips composer, behind one wallet, with the exact credit price shown on the Generate button before anything is spent.
The best Sora alternatives, by brief
Veo 3.1 is the closest single swap. Physics-aware realism with native, synchronized audio: the two things Sora 2 was loved for. Paste the same prompt and compare the take.
Seedance 2.5 is the control pick. Multi-reference input and long single takes make it the choice when the shot has to match a storyboard or hold a product steady.
Kling 3.0 is the image-to-video workhorse. Start from a still, keep the subject, and iterate until the motion lands.
The honest answer to "which one" is empirical: run the brief on two models, watch the takes disagree, keep the winner. That side-by-side is the whole reason OpenClips exists.
